RON: Back off, Jim. That box is mine.
[CUT TO INTERVIEW]
RON: No way was I letting Jim get that lunchbox.
I think about this tweet often. Too often. It haunts me. It has taken a strange and powerful hold over my psyche and I have come to believe the only way to break its spell is to conjure up a Lunchbox Wanters scenario of my own. But how? How…?
II. Two Lunch Boxes
Okay so this isn’t actually all that serious or different from the previous days of our Grindmas countdown, but I thought it would be fun to inject some drama.
We’ve been working up some brand new Lunchbox Designs down here at Grind Industries and two of them are up on the auction block right now.
First up, we’ve got this little gem with some schematic drawings for for a turkey club. (The drawing is my own but the assembly comes straight from the Boar’s Head website.)
On the back, the same titleblock frame exists but is otherwise left blank and coated with a dry-erase film so you can detail your own lunch every day. How neat is that?
And here’s a second lunchbox. Two frogs. A tasty sandwich. A brick. A positive messsage: “Every Lunch Can Be A Lunch And Learn If You Pack The Right Mindset!” What could possibly be better than that?
Well…
III. Two Lunch Boxes: Cabinets Of Mystery
When you place a bid on one of these lunch boxes you’re also bidding on their contents. And what are those contents? It’s a bit of a surprise.
Each lunchbox will be filled as full as I can possibly stuff it with THA merch, projects, and other assorted bits and pieces from the past year. Some are sketches and prototypes for projects you’ve seen before. Some are extras from small runs of things I’ve had manufactured. Some are total wildcards—paths not taken or first inklings of projects yet to come. Contents of each lunchbox will vary a bit, but I’m doing my best to make sure they’re both equally very cool.
Epilogue
The starting bid price for these boxes covers my own production costs. Any proceeds above and beyond that will be split three ways and donated to three groups whose work I believe in:
The auction will run for five days, finishing up on Friday afternoon.
I’ll see you all tomorrow with one last, final, ultimate thing!
